Ok, I’m back. I hope. I got really busy after starting my new job and didn’t have a ton of time to practice outside of that. But now I’m going to give it a shot and try to get back back into the swing of things.
This past summer I was walking along the river (one of my favorite activities) and after I little bit I noticed there was a turtle sitting there just staring at me. Around it was a shallow area of the river teeming with tiny fish. The turtle was only a foot or so in length, but compared to the tiny fish, it was enormous. That got me thinking about how this massive leviathan must appear from the perspective of the tiny fish.
For this project, I worked a lot with detail and value to give the characters life. Especially the highlights seemed to give them a lot more life than some of my previous drawings have, although I may have overdone it in areas. Finding the correct balance will come from practice I imagine. I still label this a success for my learning experience.
